When mention about sticky rice, I can list many dishes with this amazing ingredient. And today, I will introduce one of amazing Vietnamese Dessert Recipes for you guys. This dish is called Pandan Sticky Rice with Mung Bean Filling (Xôi Vị). When I was a child, my mom and aunt usually made this dish for my birthday parties. They are so tasty and I still cannot forget their flavor until today. Moreover, you only need less 1 hour to process.

1kg sticky rice
500g mung bean (no cover)
¼ cup coconut milk
Olive oil
Pandan Juice (10 leaves + ¾ cup water + 2 – 3 green food color, grind well and filter to get water from these leaves)
350g icing sugar
1 roasted sesame
Wood pattern.


Step 1: Clean mung bean well, bring to steam and grind well.

Step 2: Clean sticky rice in 2 – 3 times. Soak in water about 2 - 3 hours. Then, pour into pot + pandan juice + 1 – 2 teaspoons salt + 1 teaspoon oil, mix them well and bring to steam until sticky rice is soft.
Step 3: Use a nonstick pan, pour coconut milk + icing sugar + grinded mung bean in step 1 and fry until they dry. Here is the important step to create one of stunning Vietnamese Dessert Recipes.

Step 4: when sticky rice is cooked, pour ½ into pattern, press well. Next, pour mung bean in step 3 on the center and press gently to make sure it can cover all the sticky rice below. Then, pour the last left sticky rice, press firmly to cover all mung bean below. You should make this process when all sticky rice and mung bean are still hot because it can help them stick together.
Step 5: Put on plate added banana leaves and pull the pattern out of dish. Sprinkle roasted sesame on 2 faces of sticky rice.
